Is it just me, or are there a lot more atheists than polls say there are?

a 2008 gallup poll says that only 6% of the U.S. population doesn't believe in god, ( a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_atheism#North_America" rel="nofollow"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographic…/a ) But just from personal experience it seems like it should be a lot more than that, what do you think?
