Should Democrats be sweating with the door wide open for Republicans to beat Obama?

Present a well spoken, innocuous, fiscally conservative but over all moderate Republican and that person shall win. Considering that right now the candidates are either not well spoken or do not hold any moderate positions or are scandal prone. With the exception of, perhaps, Mitt Romney who not even his own party is really sure on.
